Juniper berries from prehistoric times were found in a Swiss lake and are thought to be one of our oldest aromatics. Traditionally Juniper was associated with purification and was widely used in incense. The Juniper tree is an evergreen which produces small black berries and grows in Canada and throughout the northern hemisphere. The essential oil is distilled only from berries which yields the highest quality oil.

the antiseptic and antibacterial properties of Juniper make it useful in cleansing the skin and treating conditions such as acne. It also has a toning and detoxifying effect which makes it useful in cleansing the body when treating cellulite and in relieving water retention. It is a warming oil and is effective at relaxing and refreshing as well as detoxifying and cleansing. When combined with any of the citrus oils, the essence of Juniper is both refreshing and deodorizing.

PROPERTIES: Antiviral, antibacterial, antiseptic, astringent, detoxifying, diuretic, toning, circulatory stimulant.

BLENDS WELL WITH: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Cypress, Ginger, Lavender, Lemon, Mandarin, Neroli, Orange, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Tea Tree.

PRECAUTIONS: Avoid use during pregnancy. Use Juniper in moderation and dilute well for applications to the skin.

For a detoxifying massage: Add ten drops Juniper to one oz. massage oil for a detoxifying massage which is helpful in reducing cellulite.

For a refreshing facial mist: Combine four drops Juniper, three droops Bergamot and two oz. water in an atomizer. Mist over the face for a toning facial spray.

For a regenerating bath: Combine six drops Juniper with one tablespoon unscented bath and shower gel or add directly to bath water for refreshing and cleansing bath.

For the relief of acne: Use three drops in a steam facial for Juniper’s antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It is helpful with congested, oily skin.
