Anthemis nobilis This wonderfully soothing essence is steam distilled from the freshly dried white flowers of the common herb. The apple-like aroma of Roman Chamomile has been in use for over 2,000 years as a natural treatment for nervous conditions and insomnia. As one of the gentlest of essential oils, it is exceptionally effective for use with children and can reduce over-activity and tantrums. In skin care, its well known anti-inflammatory properties make Chamomile ideal for use in a steam facial or a cold compress to soothe dry, irritated skin and for the treatment of acne. PROPERTIES: Mild sedative, skin antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxant, balancing for the female system. BLENDS WELL WITH: Patchouli, Lavender, Clary Sage, Jasmine, Geranium, Neroli, Rose, Lemon, Bergamot.
For PMS: Add fifteen drops of
Chamomile to a full tub of warm water to soothe and balance the emotions
during times of irritability.
For use on dry, irritated skin: Use
ten drops in a steam facial or smooth eight drops directly over sensitive
areas. Can be enhanced with two drops Geranium.
For an overactive child: Add up
to five drops to a warm bath just before bedtime. Disperse well.
For a restful night’s sleep: Add
five drops to a tissue and place under the pillow before bedtime for
insomnia and restlessness.
